Hi everyone! My name is Maia Ruiz-Law and I’m the Vice President of External Affairs this year. I like to cook, crochet, paint, and play music. Outside of FAA. I’m the Concert Production Manager for Classical Connections, a club that organizes concerts for the Bloomington community. I joined FAA to connect more with my Filipino heritage and make new friends. I’m most excited about our new events that we’re hosting this year like cooking classes, dance workshops, and MAFA collab events!

I joined FAA because I wanted to meet new people and get more in touch with my culture. I am looking forward to all the fun events that we have planned as well as being able to bring the sophomore class together in this organization!

Hi everyone, I’m Nick. My fav FAA memory from last year would have to be going to FACT(the largest student-led Filipino-American conference in the Midwest). It was really fun getting to know some of the older people that I didn’t really get to talk to a lot and I also got to know some of the other freshman too. Craziest part of FACT was getting stuck for 3 hours in a Denny’s and meeting some freshman for Purdue that coincidentally showed up.

Hi my name is Connor Guerrero, I’m this year’s treasurer. I love to cook, dj, work on cars, and collect hats. Outside of FAA you will find me getting boba with my friends or practicing Latin dance with the Paso a Paso club here at IU. I joined FAA so I can continue to stay in touch with my heritage and to make new friends. I’m most excited about FCN and the various workshops that FAA continues to plan!

My main goals for this year is fostering a community of friendships across campus, learning more about Filipino culture, and having a memorable Filipino Culture Night. My name is Alissa and I am so excited to be on exec. board for the 23-24 school year! I grew up in a small town in northern Indiana and your girl loves her comfort foods. A fun fact about me is that I wore a founding fathers wig to senior year pictures . I love to create and I’m so excited to get ideas from everyone for what videos and posts we could create. FAA has changed my college experience in the best way possible. I never could have imagined the friends and experience I would make but I am so grateful to have joined this amazing club.

Hi everyone! My name is Kai and I am one of the performance coordinators along with Sabrina Ola this year. Being in FAA has helped me find my family here at IU. I love all of our events and activities, but my favorite by far would be tinikling.
A little bit more about me is that I am a biology major, currently most interested in virology. I also enjoy yoga and any type of arts and crafts.

Hi everyone! My name is Sabrina Ola and I’m super excited to be one of the performance coordinators this year! I’m a sophomore studying Informatics and I love drawing, going to the gym, and of course performing (dancing and singing in particular). I joined FAA because I wanted to meet others who share a similar cultural identity as well as find a “home” away from home. My favorite memory last year was going to MAFAs MFAS and becoming closer with friends. I look forward to meeting new members and attending more MAFA events!

Fav FAA memory: The larger Mafa events last years like BOTB and MFAS easily were some of the most fun weekends away from school. Getting to meet new people at these events, and spending time exploring downtown Chicago with FAA was super memorable. The people you meet in FAA is fr the best part about joining.
